Friendly reminder from the Town of Pittsfield Welfare Department
Prepare now for the 2025–2026 Winter Heating Season
With the 2025–2026 winter heating season approaching, residents are encouraged to take early steps to prepare for potential increases in heating costs. Due to ongoing uncertainty in Federal and State funding, it is recommended that anyone concerned about paying for heat this winter consider the following:
- Contact your fuel provider to ask about budget payment plans, pre-buy options, or other cost-saving programs.
- Compare pricing and incentives from other fuel providers who may offer competitive rates or perks for new customers.
- Apply for assistance through the Community Action Partnership’s Fuel and Electric Assistance Programs (CAP-LIHEAP).
Applications for the 2025–2026 heating season are now available:
Online: https://capbm.org/Energy-Assistance-Resources
Town Website: https://www.pittsfieldnh.gov/welfare-department
Paper copies: Available at Town Hall
Please note: The exact amount of assistance available this year through CAP-LIHEAP may be lower than in previous years, as Federal and State funding levels are still being finalized. These funding details are not expected until later this fall.
We urge residents to plan ahead now to avoid unexpected heating expenses this winter. If you have any questions, please contact the Welfare Department at 603-435-6773 ext. 3 or [email protected].
