Vanity Plate Applications Now Accepted at the Town Clerk’s Office

The state legislature has approved changes to the vanity plate process allowing town & city clerk offices to process vanity plate applications, eliminating the need to complete the application at a DMV substation.

How it will work:

When the town clerk’s office receives the application, we will issue temporary paper plates and attach month and year decals to the registration.

Once approved by the DMV, the metal plates will be mailed to the customer within 4 weeks.  When the metal plates are received, the customer will need to attach the decals.

For new plates that we do not issue such as veteran and antique, we will process the town portion of the registration and the registrant would need to be complete the process at a DMV substation.
