NEW Hours at the B.C.E.P. Solid Waste Facility (a.k.a. the recycling center), effective 1/1/18 are Tues – Sat from 8-4pm (scales close at 3:45 pm) and Closed Sun and Mon.

The Concord Regional VNA’s Hospice Lights of Life Community Remembrance Ceremony will be held in Pittsfield on Fri, Dec. 1 at 2 pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

The annual Chamber of Commerce sponsored Children’s Store and Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on Sat, Dec. 2. Donation boxes to collect new and gently used items for the Children’s Store will be out at the Pittsfield Post Office, Pittsfield Town Hall, Northway Bank, and Epping Well Company. Items are collected for Kids only shopping (so think items that kids would give to parents, siblings, friends, and teachers). Some ideas are winter hats or baseball hats, flashlights, small tools, work gloves, warm gloves, candles, lotion, jewelry, picture frames, knick-knacks. Kick off the Holiday Season as The Pittsfield Players present the “Musical Christmas Show” on Friday, Dec.1 at 7:30 pm at the Scenic Theatre. The show is FREE due to the sponsorship of the Sanderson Fund.

On Sat, Dec. 2, continue the Holiday spirit with Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by the PES PTO at the Elementary School café from 8-9:30 am. Breakfast is $3.00 or 2 for $5.00. Pictures with Santa are available for $1.00. The CHILDREN’S STORE is also at the PES Gym from 9-noon. This is Kids Only shopping – kids can find gifts for their parents, siblings, friends, and teachers. Most items are $1.00 or less and there is free gift wrapping. Later in the day at Dustin Park from 4-6pm, the annual CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING celebration will be held. There will be free horse-drawn wagon rides, Holiday music by the Joyce family, hot chocolate, cookies, popcorn, and candy canes to enjoy. Inside PYW (Pittsfield Youth Workshop) there will be a Gingerbread House Display and raffle, visit with Santa (who will arrive via Firetruck around 4 pm), HOT chili, chowder, and soups will be available for a donation (either monetary or a nonperishable good) to benefit our Local Food Pantry. Holiday Storytime will be held in the church basement. The highlight of the day will be gathering around the Christmas Tree singing Holiday songs and counting down to the Lighting of the Tree at 6 pm.

A Decorated Wreath contest will be held at the Christmas Tree Lighting event on Sat, Dec.2. Decorate your wreath any way you’d like and drop it off at PYW (Dustin Park) by 3:45 pm (on Sat, Dec.2) and the public will vote for the best one! The Winner will receive a $50 CASH PRIZE.

The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a House Decorating Contest in the spirit of the season. Any Address in Pittsfield, NH (home or business) may enter by mailing in an entry form. The deadline to enter is Dec. 15 and judging will take place on Dec. 20 from 7-10 pm, weather permitting.

The Suncook Valley Area Lions Club will meet on Tues, Nov. 28 at 6 pm at Main Street Grill.

Plan to attend the annual Christmas concert coming Friday, December 8, 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 24 Main St., Pittsfield. This special concert entitled, “Christmas Jubilation,” will feature the church’s Chancel Choir and the JuBellation Handbell Choir. Add this fun, festive family event to your holiday celebrations! The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing to accept comment on the proposed sale of town land & buildings, in accordance with RSA 41:14-a, a statute, which gives the Board of Selectmen the authority to acquire and sell land and buildings through a public hearing process, that was adopted by Town Meeting on March 17, 2007. The public hearing will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Town Office, 85 Main Street, Pittsfield, NH 03263. This will be the second of two public hearings to be held on this proposed sale. The parcel being considered for sale is displayed on the tax maps as Map U3, Lot 45.

The Read, Meet & Talk book club will meet to discuss Christmas Day in the Morning by Pearl S. Buck, and select books for 2018, at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 5th at the Pittsfield Senior Center.
